VIDEO: How to make a Christmas piñata

OOh, a Christmas piñata to wow your guests when they arrive! And what’s this? It’s personalised with your address? Why, of course…!

As you can probably tell, here are Pretty Gifted we LOVE Christmas, so we thought we’d make you a quick video to show you how to make an easy-peasy piñata with our personalised giftwrap.

A piñata is a container often made of paper, which is colourfully decorated and filled with sweets (and small toys) then hung up high. At a celebration, guests are blind folded and take it in turns to hit the piñata with a stick, to crack open the container and release the sweets onto the floor for all to share.

Watch this video to see how easy it is to make a personalised Christmas piñata:

For this craft project, you’ll need:

  • a sheet of wrapping paper
  • scissors
  • double-sided sticky tape and glue dots
  • a needle & blue tack
  • embellishments
  • 20cm of ribbon
  • and of course, some sweets!

This personalised giftwrap reads DECK THE HALLS OF 12 OAK CRESCENT to make a Christmas pinataWe designed the Christmas piñata wrapping paper, starting with gold paper, lulu font, gold foil and then we typed ‘Deck the halls of 12 Oak Crescent” (as we were humming‘Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la’ as we were ordering!)

Then we chose a small font, as it’s a long sentence (so it fits on the paper better,) and finished by adding a star icon to the giftwrap.

Thank you to Rachael Wayne, our giftwrap queen, who did the honours for us in this Christmas tree piñata video.

We’re always thinking of inspirational ways to use giftwrap and we’d love to hear from you if you have more ideas! Similarly, if you have any questions about this piñata or any other queries about gift wrapping, please contact us.
